My style is warm, nonjudgmental, interactive and collaborative. Respect, trust, and
acceptance is the foundation my therapeutic relationships.
The home base for which I work is informed by Accelerated Experiential Dynamic
Psychotherapy, AEDP. This theory of change is rooted in attachment theory (the origin
and strategies for establishing and maintaining our connections with others), emotion
theory (the function of emotion in promoting growth and change ), somatic psychotherapy (attending to experiences in the body to facilitate deeper change) and psychodynamic psychotherapy (exploring the influence of our past on our present experience.) Integrating the mindful techniques of AEDP with other complementary approaches are the grounding for my work.
For 20+ years I have maintained a private practice in San Francisco and Berkeley, California. Previous to private practice I worked in the San Francisco County Jail providing counseling and diversion to drug treatment for the men and women who faced long-term incarceration where their drug seeking behavior leads to criminal activity. Their past and present experiences of trauma led to my dedication to the healing art of psychotherapy and it’s role in finding our strengths, building resilience, healing emotional pain and developing a deeper connection to ourselves and others.
